API Talks - The Story of one Bug
Imagine you are working on a project with some API and a tester just filed a bug report. Now you are diving in the role of a developer and try to fix it. Alexei wants to play a little game with you. He will be showing some fixes and you decide if this will be good enough. Alexei will be rating the fixes in “Junior”, “Middle”, “Senior” grades and explain the reasoning behind that grades.
After that will have some free talks about day-to-day issues of the complex projects. A few points that we could discuss:
– Is Postman a good instrument for test automation (spoiler: Alexei thinks – not!)
– Do I need to test API if I can use Selenium/Playwright/Cypress to test end2end?
– We need (probably?) some Load and Performance Tests, but I have no clue, what do I do…?
– I have a clue and wrote some L&P Tests (or many). What can they else be good for?
– OpenAPI/Swagger – some typical pitfalls
– Do I need do manual testing if we have a lot of automated API tests?
– How can I correctly write E2E or API tests to delete the test data after its execution in the pipeline
